In Of Cats and Crones the artists Thomas Hawranke, Philip Hinge and Christian Theiß take on the surrealist take on depicting individual realities. They come together creating strange and otherworldly sculptures that seemed to defy the laws of physics, creating images that were both eerie and fascinating, and that explore the unfathomable depths of the human psyche. Overall theme is the cat as deputy for visualizing our relation with ourselves and the world surrounding us. The exhibit takes place within the framework of CATBOX Contemporary, an exhibition space founded by Philip Hinge. While Christian Theiß and Thomas Hawranke take on the investigation of a domestic cat’s lifeworld, the exhibition is accompanied by a selection of paintings and collected photographs by Philip Hinge.
