Most people are afraid of the dark. It is a fear that manifests itself not only in the darkness of the night, but in the form of what we cannot see - the invisible, the obscure, the future.
The effects of ambiguity - i.e. the unpredictability of everyday life - can also evoke very different emotions and ways of dealing with them in different people. Ambiguous problems and unpredictable anomalies are not only found in human life, however - they can occur in a similar way in areas of research or science. In times dealing with the after effects of a global pandemic, climate change and political uncertainties, it is of daily relevance to reflect on one‘s own fears about the future.
The multimedia installation “Given enough eyeballs all bugs are shallow” explores the subtle connections between the feeling of fear of the unknown and virtual spheres without orientation or light that originate in remote caves.
Using photographic material and a point cloud scan as well as texts resulting from conversations on the subject of “ambiguity”, the work abstracts a search for control in a dark and alien environment.
